Nadine and Nicole, sisters from Vienna, collaborated on the development of HydroMiner. They began mining in Düsseldorf in 2014 and have worked together ever since. HydroMiner lets users rent time on servers to “mine” bitcoins in exchange for a fee. HydroMiner is a hydropower-powered bitcoin mining farm that benefits the environment. The sisters advocate the green mining of cryptocurrency, a less harmful process for the environment. HydroMiner raised $3 million in 2017 through an Initial Coin Offering (ICO). This cryptocurrency crowdfunding allowed the sisters to rent two hydropower plants along rivers in Lower Austria to launch the company.
