Elizabeth is a Columbia University graduate who co-founded BitPesa now rebranded to AZA after raising $15 million from the Development Bank of Southern Africa. AZA is a Kenyan-based digital exchange and payment platform that provides rapid, efficient, and low-cost back-to-back transfers to and from African bank accounts and mobile money wallets. AZA is now a market maker in every primary African currency and directly facilitates payments into G20 currencies. In addition, AZA was the first Blockchain firm to be approved by the UK’s Financial Conduct Authority and the first to use digital currency to dramatically reduce the cost of sending money to and from Sub-Saharan Africa. As Deputy Director of Planet Rating’s East and Southern Africa office, Elizabeth worked at Credit Suisse in New York, London and Zurich, Goldman Sachs, and the German Bundestag as a Robert Bosch Fellow.
