Francesca is the President of the Association for Constraint Programming and a Fellow of the European Association for Artificial Intelligence. In 1993, Francesca earned a doctorate in computer science from the University of Pisa. Her artificial intelligence research focuses on preference modeling, constraint processing, and multi-agent systems. She’s also interested in ethical problems related to the creation and behavior of A.I. systems, particularly decision support systems for group decision-making. She has published approximately 200 scholarly papers in journals, conference proceedings, and book chapters to her credit. Between conference proceedings, collections of contributions, special issues of journals, and a handbook, she has co-authored a book and edited 17 volumes. Finally, Francesca is an I.B.M. fellow and. I.A.I. Ethics Global Leader.
